Everything you need to know about using Bargo.
Getting started
Bargo is a price comparison app for Australian supermarkets and bottle shops. You build a shopping list, and Bargo shows you the cheapest place to buy each item — across up to 12 stores including Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, IGA, Harris Farm, Drakes, Ritchies, Supabarn, Dan Murphy's, BWS, Cellarbrations, and Liquorland.
Bargo is ad-free and gives no preferential treatment to any store.
Bargo is a freemium app. The core price comparison and shopping list features are free. Some advanced features — such as shared household lists and price alerts — require a subscription.
Bargo currently covers 12 stores: Aldi, BWS, Cellarbrations, Coles, Dan Murphy's, Drakes, Harris Farm, IGA, Liquorland, Ritchies, Supabarn, and Woolworths.
You can see the full list and which states each store operates in at bargo.au/stores. You can also turn individual stores on or off in the Account tab.
Go to the Account tab and tap the store chips to activate or deactivate them. Only your selected stores will appear in search results and price comparisons. Bargo doesn't choose for you — we all have our preferences.
Shopping list
Generic item (press Enter or tap Add with a general term like "Milk"): Bargo shows the average price for that category at each store, marked with a ~ prefix. Useful when you don't mind which brand you buy.
Specific item (tap a product card from search results): Bargo shows the exact price for that product at each store. Useful when you want a particular brand or size.
The ~ symbol means the price shown is an average across products in that category at that store — not the price of one specific product. It gives you a rough guide for budgeting when you're not committed to a particular brand.
Tap the By store tab at the top of your shopping list. This groups your items by store and shows the total cost at each, so you can decide which store gives you the best overall deal for your list.
Household accounts
A household account lets multiple people share a single shopping list in real time. Everyone in the household sees the same list and can add, remove, or check off items. Perfect for couples or families who share the grocery shopping.
Go to Account → Household and tap Create household. You'll be given an invite code to share with the people you want to add. They enter the code in their own Account tab to join.
The person who creates the household is the owner. Only the owner can remove members or dissolve the household.
Ask the household owner to share their invite code. Then go to Account → Household → Join household and enter the code. You'll be added immediately and can see the shared list straight away.
If the household owner deletes their account, all members revert to free individual accounts. The shared list data becomes inaccessible, but your personal data — your own My List, alerts, and preferences — is unaffected.
Prices & data
It depends on the store:
- Daily: Woolworths, Aldi, Harris Farm, IGA, Drakes, Ritchies, Supabarn
- Twice weekly (Wed + Sat): Coles, Dan Murphy's, BWS, Cellarbrations, Liquorland
Prices shown in Bargo are sourced from each store's publicly available website and may not always match exactly what you find in-store, particularly if a store updates prices between our scheduled collection runs.
A few possible reasons:
- The product was added to the store after our last data collection run — it will appear after the next scheduled update
- The product is out of stock and not currently listed on the store's website
- The product exists under a slightly different name — try a shorter or more general search term
If you believe a product should be showing up, let us know via the contact page.
Bargo collects prices from each store's publicly available website. Prices can change between our collection runs, or a store may offer in-store-only promotions that aren't reflected online. Always verify the current price at the store before making purchasing decisions.
If you spot a significant or persistent price discrepancy, please report it via our contact page — it helps us improve.
Where available, Bargo shows the unit price (e.g. price per 100g or per litre) to help you compare value across different pack sizes. For some stores, unit prices are calculated by Bargo from the product name rather than provided directly — these are marked with a ~ prefix to indicate they're approximate.
Price alerts
Go to the Alerts tab, search for a product, and set the price at which you want to be notified. Bargo will send you a push notification the next time we collect prices and find that product at or below your target price at any of your selected stores.
Alerts are checked every day after our price collection runs complete — usually by 7:00am AEST. For bottle shops (updated Wednesday and Saturday), alerts are checked on those days. There may be a delay of up to 24 hours for daily stores and up to 4 days for twice-weekly stores.
Privacy & data
Bargo collects only what's needed to provide the service: your email address, display name, store preferences, shopping list contents, and price alerts. We also collect anonymous usage data to improve the app.
Bargo does not sell your data to third parties, does not partner with banks or advertisers, and does not use your shopping data for advertising purposes.
For the full details, see our Privacy Notice.
Go to Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, shopping list, alerts, and all associated data. This action cannot be undone.
If you are a household owner, deleting your account will also dissolve the household and revert all members to free individual accounts.
Yes. Bargo is and will remain ad-free. We do not accept payment from stores to influence search results or positioning. Every store is treated equally.
If Bargo ever enters into a commercial relationship with a store, we will be completely transparent about it.
